This originally was supposed to be a blog about me and Jesse chronicling our lives to share with both friends and family. He really did not like the idea. As a late resolution I have vowed to write something on this blog at least once a week that is optimistic. No negativity, no stories about how drivers piss me off or anything remotely like that. It seems when you shut out negativity and the things that go wrong in your day to day life it makes everything a lot easier.
People forget sometimes about the value of their attitude to others. A simple smile from someone or someone giving up their place in line because you have less items, those things can brighten a person day. At least they have mine. Simple acts of human kindness. People, places, and situations are easy to take for granted. Sometimes we forget not everyone has a job, home, car, family or food to eat. Right now, one of my greatest treasures is spending time with friends. I do not see them much anymore. Everyone has their own schedules and things to attend to. But as amazing as it may seem a phone call from one of them, a lunch date, a night out or even a facebook message makes me appreciate them all that much more.
Speaking of people being appreciated, one of the hardest jobs ever is being a mother. My mother, bless her heart, raised the both of us alot of the time by herself. Dad was worked alot during the week to provide for our family and to prove himself. My mother got both of us up dressed, fed us, packed lunches and took us to school. While we were in school, she cleaned the house, went grocery shopping, etc. She picked us up took and ran us to dance practice, baseball practice or whatever we had going on at the time. In all that time I do not know if any of us ever even gave her a thank you. We just expected it because it was how it was. So....THANK YOU MOM!
Lessons to be learned from this: 1) A simple act of kindness can brighten even someone's worst day...even if it is just a little. 2) You are not promised anything in life. You are not owed your life, your home, your car, your family and friends, your animals or luxury items. Enjoy your life and all it has to give! 3) Give back to those who give to you. A thank you, a smile, running an errand for them, etc. Little things sometimes mean alot.
